  • Comparison: Maxpedition’s Rat Wallet and the M1 & M2 Waistpacks

    Items that need to fit:

    The Rat Wallet

    Size
    ca. 9.5 x 14.5 x 5.5 cm
    Pockets / Compartments
    • One subdivided, zippered main pocket for cash & cards
    • A front pocket with velcro and strap with buckle
    • A zippered slot on the flap of the front pocket

Maxpedition’s Rat WalletThe Palm fits in the main pocket, the screen turned safely towards the rear of the pouch. Business and credit cards go into the same pocket. The front pocket holds the wallet along with a pocketknife, the separate, zippered pouch on the flap contains the USB stick.

The Rat rides on the belt or looks hi-tech when carried independently. All items are secured and tightly packed. As well as other Maxpedition models, this wallet is mucho overbuilt, shows excellent workmanship and features a sturdy construction. Carry it empty just to show off.

    The M1-Waistpack

    Size
    ca. 11.5 x 15.5 x 6 cm
    Pockets / Compartments
    • One large, zippered compartment with two interior slots
    • A subdivided front pocket with velcro and strap with buckle
    • A zippered slot on the flap of the front pocket

Maxpedition’s M1-WaistpackThe PDA is secured under the flap of the front pocket with velcro and strap with buckle, the USB Stick is carried inside the zippered front pocket. The wallet, knife, business and credit cards all reside in the back compartment with room to spare for those extra items.

The M1 offers plenty of space, its size makes it perfect for wearing it on the back of the hip — it looks good on girls too. The Maxpedition labels are hidden under the flap, an advantage in some urban environments. You still get the chance to show your logo while opening the pouch.

    The M2-Waistpack

    Size
    ca. 8.5 x 14 x 5 cm
    Pockets / Compartments
    • One subdivided, zippered compartment
    • A slim front pocket with strap and buckle

Maxpedition’s M2-WaistpackThe main compartment holds the Palm, business cards are stored in the rear sleeve pocket and the pocketknife and USB stick find their place behind the front sleeve. A 3 mm cardboard — reinforced with duct tape and inserted behind the belt loops — protects the palm’s screen. The Mission Wallet or a cellphone would fit in the front pocket with the shape of the flap providing space for antennas sticking out. The zippered front pocket is missing on this model.

The M2 is about the size of the Rat Wallet, but it is slightly thinner and carried vertically, the slim design makes it a convenient low profile urban accessoire with enough storage area. The M2 also hides its label under the front flap.
